New York City-based noise rock group A Place to Bury Strangers have announced upcoming tour dates alongside UK rockers The Joy Formidable. APTBS has also released a new video through SPIN for their track “So Far Away” off of their forthcoming EP, Onwards To the Wall, due out February 7 from Dead Oceans.
The album will be the third full-length studio production for the group, and the first effort since their 2009 album, Exploding Head. Their newest track offers a look into the group’s evolution in sound over the past four years. It’s also a showing in the multimedia tools that most of us have constant access to: the film was shot by band member Oliver Ackermann using the iPhone app Hipstamatic.
“I did this because it is one of the most common ways photos are taken and shared at this moment in time,” says Ackermann. “The story in the video is personal and reflective of our lives over the past year or so.”
The group also has plans to begin their U.S. (and slightly Canadian) tour following their EP release with The Joy Formidable this spring. The tour will kick off with a San Francisco show in March, and finishing up with a Toronto show in early April.
Tickets are available for pre-order here, and check out APTBS’ video from SPIN below:
