Black Sabbath Was Confirmed for Coachella But Had to Back Out

As details continue to unfold in relation to the recently posted Coachella lineup, it has become known that Black Sabbath was supposed to headline the festival.  Unfortunately for Sabbath fans, Tony Iommi’s recent diagnosis with lymphoma forced the band to pull out at the last minute.

Tony Iommi’s diagnosis could potentially impede Black Sabbath’s reunion plans.  When the band announced last November that they would be reuniting for another album and a tour, they had no idea what was in store for them.

Rumors have it that of Radiohead, The Black Keys, and Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, it was The Black Keys who stepped up to the plate to fill Black Sabbath’s headlining spot.  This makes sense, given that The Black Keys are Coachella regulars, making their appearance at the festival significantly less special than that of Radiohead and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.  It is a shame that Iommi’s fate is uncertain and that Black Sabbath’s reunion may have to be sidelined for that reason.
