English indiepop duo The Ting Ting’s have announced plans for a spring 2012 tour in support of their upcoming LP, Sounds From Nowheresville, due out February 27 in the U.K. and sometime in early March for the U.S. via Columbia Records. The tour begins in Los Angeles on March 21 at the El Ray Theater and ends May 5 at Detroit’s St. Andrew’s Hall, as reported by Consequence of Sound. Check after the jump for the tour dates:
Sounds From Nowheresville was recorded in Mercia, Spain and Berlin over the course of 8 months, and draws from a variety of influences, including Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Petshop Boys, Sex Pistols, and the tUnEyArDs, as told to Spin.
Inspired by their original art-scene roots, the Ting Tings launched a contest called Show Us Yours, encouraging fans to send in photographs, graphic designs, paintings or drawings for use on Sounds From Nowheresville.
“He produced a piece of artwork that is just amazing, and we fell in love with it, and it became the front cover,” Jules de Martino told Spin, referring to Milan Abad, the artist responsible for the creepy cover art. “It’s a totally cool piece, and it kind of transcends everywhere we are at the moment and what our album’s about.”
