The Frames vocalist/guitarist and main songwriter Glen Hansard tweeted in November that he was in the studio recording his first solo album in New York. Hansard is also one half of folk-rock band The Swell Season, which also features multi-talented Czech songstress Marketa Irglova.

In NYC recording my first solo record.. Gathering up the songs to see which way they wanna go.. @MarketaIrglova sang on it this week! yes!

This will be Hansard’s first musical endeavor since The Swell Season’s Strict Joy was released in 2009.His song “Falling Slowly” from Once was co-written with Irglova and garnished the duo with the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2007 and earned him ten other prominent nominations between 2007-08. The Irish songwriter is also an actor, starring in the film Once and also appearing in the BAFTA winning film the Commitments.
