Fugazi Releases Career-Spanning Live Series Collection

Pot punk outfit Fugazi has created massive online live archive, including over 800 live Fugazi performances according to a report in the New York Times. The massive online archive reflects years of live tape collecting, placing them on a scale more typical of live jam bands like the Grateful Dead.

Group leader and Dischord Records founder Ian MacKaye says of the Fugazi Live Series, “Why stop? We’d already gotten this far?”

This is not the first time that the group has undertaken similar endeavors: as previously reported, Fugazi has released career-spanning live performances before, augmenting their 6 studio albums.

Though the group has not released an album together since The Argument in 2001, the recent activity, along with minor hints, have fans wondering if reunion is eminent. In an interview with the Onion’s A.V. Club, bass player Joe Lally reflected on their past work, saying The Argument was “a great record that we should try and top.” However, with no official word, fans continue to wait.
