Following a string of 2011 reunion tour dates, Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor announced plans to work on new material. The group’s announcement of a series of tour dates in 2012 may be the first indication that we’ll receive a preview of their efforts.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor formed in Montreal in 1994, and has since become the first outside group to release their recordings through Constellation, a Montreal-based independent record label that is well-known for its commitment to the experimental. Along with GY!BE, they’ve released albums from Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band, and Do Make Say Think.
The group will play a single show in Bug Sur, California on April 15 before moving onto a five-night series at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall.
Tickets are onsale now from Folkyeah.com.
