They may look like they stepped out of a rock-n-roll time machine circa 1985, but the members of English glam rock band The Darkness are bringing their electrifying style of rock-n-roll to Canada and the states for a North American tour in 2012. The tour starts on February 1 in Toronto at the Phoenix, and will send the band Boston, New York, Philly and Washington D.C. before hitting a slew of mid-west and west coast shows, including a February 20 date at L.A.’s House of Blues. It concludes on February 21 at San Fransisco’s Fillmore.
The Lowestoft, Suffolk band will be performing songs from their as-of-yet untitled third studio album, set to be released sometime in spring 2012.
In addition to adding new material to their repertoire for the tour, the band will also be performing hits from their multi-platinum 2003 smash-out success Permission to Land (Atlantic), which brought about nostalgia inducing hits like “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”, “Get Your Hands Off My Woman”, and the booze-fueled, supercharged “Black Shuck”. They will also be performing hits from 2005’s One Way Ticket to Hell and Back, including the hits “One Way Ticket” and “Is It Just Me?”.
The new tour is going to feature all of the guitar wizardry, wild antics and pyrotechniques fans of the band have come to know and love. After reforming in March and doing an extensive reunion tour over the summer of Europe and Japan, lead singer Justin Hawkins proclaims his excitement for returning to the states in the spring.
“We literally cannot wait to hit back in the U.S. and Canada,’ Hawkins said in a recent press release. “We loved it last time and we’re sure to love it again. See you there!”
