London dance-punk band The Rapture will perform in London for a unique concert series on December 12 at 4 pm ET. The performance is part of Noisey.com’s Special Engagements concert series, which uses social media technologies to enhance the live music experience of fans. The event will be live-streamed around the world.
Fans can check out Noisey.com to participate in the engagements. It basically works like this:
Engagement 1 went live on November 22, and gives fans the opportunity to vote on the encore they want The Rapture to perform from a list of five songs using the Facebook “like” feature, and the Grooveshark player widget to listen. The top two most voted songs will be selected for performance by the band.
Engagement 2 went live on November 23 and gives one lucky fan the opportunity to perform on stage with the band, provided they submit the best video of themselves playing the cowbell to their song “House of Jealous Lovers”. This is especially interesting because the fan’s also decide the outcome of this; the best video is selected from the top 5 based on number of Facebook “likes”.
Engagement 3 went live on November 28 and gives fans the opportunity to design a limited edition t-shirt for the band based on the single “Sail Away”. Three colors and three designs are provided, and the winning combo, based on- you guessed it, Facebook “likes”- will be determined and a few lucky winners will receive one.
Engagement 4 asks fans to leave the band a message telling them what makes The Rapture their favorite band. One lucky winner will get to bowl with the band after the show.
The Dell and Intel Special Engagement kicked off August 20, 2011 in Austin, Texas with Brooklyn pop act Theophilus London and host Telli from Ninjasonik. The series hit Berlin with electropop group Holy Ghost! before traveling to Beijing where Chinese art rock band Omnipotent Youth Society performed.
After the UK engagement the series will be heading to France before returning to the states. Long form documentaries of the engagements will be available on Noisey.com following the events.
