Though marred by poor weather and a tragic death at the Roskilde Festival this past Summer, the Roskilde Foundation will host their annual festival in 2012. Now that they have begun to book and announce the acts for this upcoming festival, Roskilde announced their addition today , the Icelandic phenomena Björk will headline for 2012.
As previously reported, a 35-year-old German female fell to her death at this past Roskilde Festival in early July after scaling a 100-foot tower. Though the festival opened to sunny skies, by Thursday and Friday the weather had turned remarkably poor with heavy rains descending upon the festival grounds.
Despite little more word releasing on the details regarding the Berlin-area resident’s death, poor weather caused another lethal tragedy at the Pukkelpop Festival a month later when a stage collapsed killing at least 2 festival attendees while injuring another 40.
For Roskilde in 2012, the first official addition to the line-up is sure to garner a wealth of interest for the festival, which now averages over 100,000 attendees, artists, and support personnel.
Björk last attended the festival in 2007 performing her latest album at the time, Volta. Four years latter the singer is expected to perform her recently released studio album, Biophilia, which released last month.
