Broadcast Working on New Album With Vocal Trish Keenan Recorded Before Her Passing

Following news of Trish Keenan’s death earlier this year, fellow Broadcast Bandmate (and significant other) James Cargill recently revealed that he is working on soundtrack and new Broadcast album with vocals from Keenan that were recorded before her passing.

Cargill revealed the news via an interview with Under the Radar for their 10th anniversary issue.  In the interview, Cargill also discusses the direction that the band was heading at the time of Keenan’s death.

“Trish left a lot of tapes, four-tracks and stuff, and I’ve been going through those. It’s difficult, and I’m connected to it at the same time. It’s wonderful, but I’m also feeling a sense of loss,” he said in the interview.

Those four-tracks will go towards Cargill’s soundtrack for the upcoming Peter Strickland film Berberian Sound Studio along with a developing Broadcast album. In the interview, Cargill reveals that some of the found tapes were demos of Haha Sound-era tracks, the source of the idea for their compilation in a Broadcast album.

“I think that would be a wonderful thing,” he said.

Keenan passed away back in January due to complications stemming from a bout with pneumonia.
