Former Wham lead singer George Michael has postponed the remainder of his Symphonica tour after hospitalization with pneumonia. According to his publicist, Michael is undergoing treatment in a Vienna hospital. A post made today on Michael’s official site confirms that the remainder of the singer’s tour dates have been postponed.
48-year-old Michael called off a November 21 show in Vienna two hours before he was set to go on stage. He also canceled his November 23 show in Strasbourg, France.
“It’s with great sadness that GeorgeMichael.com must announce the postponement of the remaining dates on the Symphonica tour due to George’s on-going battle with pneumonia,” says a post made today on Michael’s official site.
“While George is receiving excellent medical care and is responding to treatment and slowly improving, to ensure his complete well-being, George’s doctors have advised that he cannot perform the rest of his Symphonica tour and that he instead takes a full and complete rest.”
The post goes on to state that preparations for rescheduled performance dates were underway. Ticket holders are asked to stay tuned for more information, and to retain their tickets.
