Wrekmeister Harmonies perform LIVE to Michael Snow’s “Wavelength” 11/18

First off, in case you’re not in the know, Wrekmeister Harmonies is “a distinctive hybrid of sound art and avant-garde musics,” brainchild of Chicago-based sound artist J.R. Robinson. He’s exhibited his  ambient tonefields in museums around the world such as the Moma, Getty, Guggenheim, and Pompideau, and this Friday the 18th of November, he’ll be fusing these other-wordly tones with another deliciously avant-garde medium: Michael Snow’s 1967 experimental film “Wavelength”.

What is “Wavelength”, you ask? Hard to explain, but it’s been described as an “avant garde masterpiece” that is “elemental, uncompromising, physical and yet completely intangible…like explaining light itself.” Hm…looks like you’ll have to see (and hear) to really understand.  Oh, and almost forgot to mention the most exciting part-  J.R. Robinson has some pretty cool dudes as friends and they’ll be there not only to support, but to perform alongside his ensemble. Scheduled to perform include members of LCD Soundsystem, The Melvins, Jesus Lizard, Priestbird, LA’s Big Business and Qui.  Whoever said avant garde couldn’t rock?
