Conrad Murray Found Guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter in Michael Jackson Death Case

In the conclusion to the long-running case of the death of pop star Michael Jackson, Dr. Conrad Murray has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Appearing stoic as the verdict was read in the Los Angeles County courthouse where the trial took place, Murray was escorted from the premises shortly after court clerk Sammi Benson announced the court’s findings.

Jackson’s sister La Toya reportedly let out a brief but intense scream, a reaction echoed by fans waiting outside of the courthouse.

“This is not a crime involving a mistake of judgment. … This was a crime where the end result was the death of a human being. That factor demonstrates rather dramatically that the public should be protected,” said Judge Michael Pastor in a recent CNN report.

A sentencing hearing is currently scheduled for November 29, where Murray is expected to face up to four years in prison.
