First up, DJ Premier ft. Nas and the Berkelee Symphony Orchestra performing the suspenseful “Regeneration”. It’s not uncommon to hear orchestra sounds sampled in popular hip-hop, RnB and rap, but this song is an entirely separate entity.
Denver-based producer Pretty Lights headed to the Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame to team up with Dr. Ralph Stanley and LeAnn Rime lay down the moody “Wayfaring Stranger”.
Breakbeat pioneers The Crystal Method hit Detroit to record “I’m Not Leaving” with Martha Reeves of the Vandellas and The Funk Brothers.
Dubstep phenom Skrillex teamed up with Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore for “Breaking A Sweat”, essentially amounting to the first recorded material from members of the Doors since 1978’s An American Prayer!
Mark Ronson hit New Orleans to record “A La Modeliste” featuring Eryka Badu, Mos Def, Trombone Shorty, members of the Dap Kings and Ziggabo Modeliste, which will be released shortly according to a press release for RE:Generation.
