With the release of their second album earlier this week, electronic duo Justice dropped a few retro nuggets into the mix. With 90’s fever and fervor, Audio, Video, Disco ends it’s 46 minute run time with a hidden track.
Playing out the remaining four minutes of the title track, “Audio, Video, Disco,” the untitled hidden track is a masterful culmination of a style built upon eight years of collaboration with a twist; though with better audio quality than a 16 bit sound card the hidden track bears resemblance to a generation of dramatic dialogue cut scene video game music, and it’s good.
Ripe with an atmosphere of melancholy and melodrama, the overbearing organ musical lines ebb and flow with an emotional eloquence weaving in and out of an accompanying baseline like a needle through thread. Mixed with periodical passages of sensual flamenco guitar and flute notes, the track is a well written hidden treasure.
