Despite the tragedy which befell this year’s Pukkelpop Festival, organizers have stated the festival will continue in 2012. With it’s eight stages, Pukkelpop Festival 2012 will run from Aug. 16-18.
As previously reported, due to a massive storm which struck Hasselt, Belgium where the festival is held; a stage collapsed killing at least two of the festival attendees while injuring over 40 more. Occurring the first day of the planned three day festival, the organizers were forced to call the remaining two days.
In wake of the event the festival organizers started a Support Fund for the victims of the collapse.
As a direct consequence of the festival cancellation, the organizers have foreshadowed a difficult few years ahead suffering heavy financial loss while promising restitution to those that purchases tickets for the 2011 festival.
Yet despite the tragedy and the financial fallout, the organizers have posted on the Pukkelpop site stating that the show will go on.
Pukkelpop will continue in its original form: three days, eight stages, a mixture of the best bands, DJs and sideshows of the moment combined with a distinctive focus on artists of tomorrow…Pukkelpop 2012 will take place on Thursday 16th, Friday 17th and Saturday 18th August, stated a post on the web site.
