Reclusive indie folk artist Radical Face is back at it with a follow up to his 2007 debut, Ghost, with The Family Tree: The Roots released earlier this month. With a handful of select live performances, the artist behind the folk mask, Ben Cooper, has also offered up the single, “A Pound of Flesh,” free for download.
A concept album four years in the making, The Family Tree, is a reflective record which seeks to insight listeners to life as an American family during the 1800’s. Staying true to the conceptual dynamic of the album, Radical Face only used contemporary 19th century instruments throughout the recording of the album.
Featuring piano, guitar, a single floor tom, with vocals, Radical Face recorded the entire album within a tool shed in his native home of Jacksonville, FL.
With only two remaining live performances of four, Cooper will bring his latest songs along with a full backing choir to the Rock Spring Church in Arlington, VA Oct. 22 featuring the Yorktown Vocal Ensemble with an Oct. 25 performance at New York’s Webster Hall Studio backed by the Cloud Family Singers.
