Austin based blues group Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears have announced a fall tour beginning this November 8 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and ending with a New Year’s Eve party in Chicago, Illinois.
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears‘ tale is one forged out of the eclectic and vibrant diversity of styles within the Austin music scene. Exposure to Delta and Chicago Blues, Memphis Soul and Detroit garage punk rock have created a unique hybrid sound that has gained the band recognition from magazines such as Esquire, which named them one of “Ten Best Bands to Break Out at 2009’s SXSW Festival“.
“I don’t know man, I just kind of dove into it,” Lewis said in a press release detailing the upcoming tour, referring to learning to play guitar on a whim. “I pretty much learned on stage,” he continued.
The past two years have been busy for Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, from their Eno-produced E.P. and eventual Lost Highway release Tell Em Whatcha Name Is! to a much buzzed-about set on The David Letterman Show and a hip hop inspired mix-tape put together by Mad Decent’s DJA.
