The Academy Is… Calls it Quits

Chicago-based rock outfit The Academy Is… announced this past Saturday that they have decided to call it quits via an official statement on their website.

The band’s statement offered little reasoning behind their decision to go their separate ways, stating only that “The Academy is… has made its mark.”  They went on to thank fans and friends of the band for their support and encouraged listeners to look out for new material from each member of the group.

Formed in the suburbs of Chicago in 2003, The Academy Is… went on the release three well-received studio albums, four EPs and a slew of singles. Bandmates Andy Mrotek and Michael Guy Chislett left the group back in May to pursue their own individual careers, leaving the remaining three members (Adam Siska, Mike Carden and William Beckett) to begin recording the group’s fourth studio album.

It has not been confirmed what will happen, if anything, with the material recorded in-studio for that album.
