Megadeth to Re-Launch ‘Gigantour’ for First Time in Nearly Four Years in Early 2012 with Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil

As Megadeth prepares to release their thirteenth studio album, conveniently titled TH1RT3EN, concert-goers will be thrilled to hear that the famed metal band will be sharing the stage on their upcoming North American ‘Gigantour’ with the iconic bands Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil.

The idea of Gigantour was conceived by Megadeth’s frontman Dave Mustaine in 2005 as an alternative to other popular metal festivals such as Ozzfest. He wanted to create an affordable, package festival where high energy bands could be seen playing the heavy music they loved. For the 2012 revival of this critically acclaimed tour, tentative dates are being set from late January through early March.

Assuredly, fans attending Gigantour will hear new tunes from TH1RT3EN, which is set to be released on November 1. Judging by the album’s fiery first single, “Public Enemy No. 1,” it is apparent that Megadeth is not slowing down for anyone even after almost 30 years of playing music. Expect the same poignance and strong social stance on TH1RT3EN that Megadeth is known for. And if you plan on attending this year’s Gigantour revival, you might as well go ahead and buy your earplugs now.
