No Timetable on New System of a Down Album According to Drummer John Dolmayan

Seven weeks from now will heralded more than another Thanksgiving, it will also mark six years since System of Down has released an album and a year since the band has reunited after a four year hiatus.  None the less, the horizon for a new System of a Down album is a date out of reach.

During an interview with Multishow after their first show in Rio De Janeiro Oct. 2, System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan elaborated on the likelihood of an upcoming System of a Down album.

I know there’s a lot of people waiting for an album; I’m waiting for an album just like they are. It’s gonna happen when it’s right and when we can make something that tops what we’ve done in the past, said Dolmayan.

Although the band is back together after a length hiatus, System of a Down will be taking the holiday season off to spend time with family stretching through the New Year.   For Serj Tankian, whom splits his time between the States and New Zealand, his vacation may last even longer still.

So we’ll be home for the next three or four months. And then Serj takes off and goes to New Zealand for a couple of months, added Dolmayan.

However the band is most certainly back at it.  Though you shouldn’t expect too much from them for the remainder of the year, their vacation shouldn’t be seen as the beginning of another hiatus, the members are in good spirits with no bad blood coursing through their veins.

For those desperate to know when new material will reach the light of release, you’ll have to be patient.

At this time there is no Sun setting across the horizon of a new album.  The band is more concerned with finishing out their reunion tour strong.

We’re gonna take it day by day. We still have a few more shows to do in South America, said Dolmayan.
