Although Blakroc 2 isn’t a myth, The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney recently addressed a trailer which has gone viral over the internet since being posted on Damon Dash’s YouTube.com account Aug. 30. Recorded and released without the permission of The Black Keys, the trailer gives a false impression that the follow-up to Blakroc is coming soon.During an interview with davefm 92.9, a local Atlanta radio station, Carney briefly discussed the trailer and album, which though has recorded material, is and has been in limbo for almost two years.
Well Blakroc 2 is not coming out soon, said Carney.
Despite garnering over 100,000 views already, Carney went on to elaborate that the trailer featured film from recording sessions that occurred two years ago, “around October 2009,” shortly before the release of Blakroc.
At this time, Carney stated there are no plans for the release of Blakroc 2, which is currently nothing more than eight songs that the drummer guesses are done.
I mean we have stuff recorded for it, added Carney.
When told that people are excited for both the upcoming Black Keys endeavors Carney stated they can get excited about the new Black Keys album.
‘Cuz that’s the only one that actually exists, said Carney.
