As 2011 starts to come to a close, Gwar shows no signs of slowing down. Already prepped for a fall tour, working on an animated series and having been banned from Fox’s Red Eye, lead throat-noise maker Oderus Urungus recently announced that he will “star” in an upcoming original FEARnet series.
Serving as a cast member on the upcoming series Holliston, Urungus will join Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister along with Adam Green and Joe Lynch. Described semi-seriously as The Big Bang Theory meets Evil Dead II, the show takes place in a small Massachusetts town and follows buddies Adam and Joe as they follow their dream of becoming big-time horror filmmakers.
Oderus, aka Dave Brockie, is slated to play himself, albeit a version of himself that is Adam’s imaginary friend who lives in his closet. In typical Oderus fashion, the frontman doles out extremely misguided, offensive advice to his young, confused friend.
“I am pleased beyond belief that the human race, and FEARnet, has finally recognized my acting ability and hired me as the star of Holliston. With Dee Snider on the cast, it’s essential to have somebody that brings class to the proceedings…that class is me,” said Urungus via a recent press release, apparently unaware that he has a supporting role.
The show is scheduled to start production this month. Also scheduled for this month is Gwar’s second annual Crack-A-Thon, taking place this weekend at the MF Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
The Gwar-B-Q will also go down this month and will feature a slew of scumdog-friendly music acts and events. More info about the upcoming Gwar-B-Q is available here.
