Canadian punk group Fucked Up has teamed up with director Matt Eastman on their newest video, “The Other Shoe” from on their June 7 release rock opera, David Comes to Life, from Matador Records. The concept album focuses on the same fictional British town, Byrdesdale Spa, that the group’s compilation album, David’s Town, was set.
The story and accompanying video, set in 1977, gives the group a chance to imitate the sounds and groups of the late 70s under a number of pseudonyms. The lineup of fake 70s-era bands are all played, of course, by Fucked Up themselves.
In a post from the band’s official blog, the group jokingly said, “Instead of recording any new music, why don’t we just release this compilation album from 1977 we’d been sitting on since from before we were all born?”
The entire album David Comes to Life includes 18 total songs, broken into 4 complete acts.
“The Other Shoe” is the second video installment after the June release of “Queen of Hearts.”
