Band Vampire Weekend and its label, XL Recordings, have settled their lawsuit with Contra cover model Ann Kirsten Kennis for an undisclosed amount.
In 2010, Kennis sued the band, the label, and photographer Tod Brody for $2 million, alleging that she had not given them permission to use her photograph for the cover of Vampire Weekend’s album Contra. The case has been subsequently dismissed by an LA federal court.
As reported by Photo District News, though the photographer was reportedly paid $5,000 for the licensing of the shot, Kennis claimed that Brody forged her signature on the model release form. Vampire Weekend and XL have also sued Brody, claiming Brody liable for the whole mess. The case remains pending.
