David Lynch Reveals Plans for His Debut Solo Album, Crazy Clown Time

Eraserhead director David Lynch recently revealed plans for his debut solo album, Crazy Clown Time, 14-track “modern blues” LP that features a rack with guest vocals from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O.

Though Lynch has produced previous musical efforts—see last year’s Dangermouse/Sparklehourse collaborative track on Dark Night of the Soul—the release of Crazy Clown Time on November 8 will serve as the artist’s first solo effort. Featuring Lynch primarily on guitar and vocals (and some drum work from producer Dean Hurley), the album was reportedly enhanced creatively through a string of serendipitous occurrences.

“There were so many accidents; this album should be in the hospital,” quipped Lynch in a recent press release.

Those accidents have resulted in what the director-turned-musician says is a collection of dark “modern blues” tracks that recall ominous visions through thoroughly Lynchian lyrics and music.

News of the track featuring Karen O, “Pinky’s Dream,” comes just under a month after the vocalist revealed plans to debut an opera at this year’s Creators Project festival.
