The female MC from Minnesota’s Doomtree hip hop collective, Dessa, has announced a follow up remix to her debut solo venture, A Badly Broken Code. Titled, Castor, The Twin, the 11 track record will feature previously released material remixed with live instrument backing.
In a personal message sent through Doomtree’s newsletter, Dessa dropped some exclusive details regarding the experimental remix; including the release date and featured instruments.
Set to release Oct. 4, the wholly organic ensemble enlists; stand-up bass, viola, grand piano, vibraphone, mandolin, and timpani instrumentation. The assortment of live instruments breathes new life into the reshaped material enshrouding the lyrics in a completely different atmosphere than before.
The final track from, Castor, The Twin, is the first single from her next full-length album. Though Dessa has only stated the new LP will release next year, “The Beekeeper,” will give us a window into that work as she seeks to continue interweaving organic instrumentation into her future music.
