Portland, OR-based psychedelic rock outfit Portugal. The Man recently reported the theft of their van shortly after a set at this year’s Lollapalooza on Sunday night. Having lost thousands of dollars worth of gear, the band has taken to the web in an effort to regain their possessions.
Since the band reported their gear stolen, their van and trailer have been recovered. Unfortunately, all the equipment inside was stolen, which prompted the band to release a list of items that were taken, which can be found here.
The equipment in the trailer included a host of vintage Fender amps and guitars, several older Gretsch guitars and a slew of pedals, microphones, and drums.
Twitter has played an enormous role in the band’s strategy to get their equipment back, with pictures of the van and the list of equipment being disseminated to fans via the social media service. They are also creating a contact email for fans to report stolen equipment found on Craigslist and eBay.
Despite the enourmous losses that the band has suffered, they are currently declining suggested donations from fans, opting instead to possibly set up a merch sale to cover the expenses.
More info is available via the band’s official Twitter page.
