Quiksilver Announces Dates for Quicksilver Pro New York Action Sport and Music Festival

Surf and winter sport clothing brand Quiksilver has announced dates for the inaugural Quiksilver Pro New York action sport and music festival. The festival will be held on Long Beach, New York from September 1 – 15, and will be the largest action sport and music festival ever assembled.

The festival  is the second stop in the world’s largest professional surfing competition, and touts the sport’s very first 1 million dollar prize.

Quiksilver Pro New York is only one stop in the Quiksilver Pro Global Series, which will feature events in France and Australia in addition to the Long Beach location.

Quiksilver Pro New York will kick off on Labor Day Weekend with appearances from headlining athletes, and will continue into 8 days of music from acts including The Flaming Lips, Girl Talk, Interpol, and Taking Back Sunday.

“We’re very excited to perform at the Quiksilver Pro — the first event of its kind on the east coast,” said Interpol’s Paul Banks. “As we hail from that part of the country, we are happy to contribute to a collective call of ‘Surf’s Up!'”

Interpol’s performance is set for September 4, with subsequent appearances by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on the 5th, and a benefit concert hosted by Kelly Slater and Friends and the Max Weinberg Experience on the 10th.
