London-based electronic group Plaid have announced an August 27 release date for their upcoming album, Scintilli. The group has also planned a North-American tour, set to begin in November of this year.
Scintilli follows the 2003 release of Plaid’s well-received intelligent dance album, Spokes, as well as 2 film scores, a collaborative audio-visual album, Greedy Baby, and a world-wide performance schedule. The album will first be made available as part of a packaging puzzle pack–a design intended to give the physical product an additional ornamental function. The packing will break down into 2 separate, die-cut rings designed to suspend to hold the CD, as well as to display the title tracks when lined up correctly.
In anticipation of the upcoming album release, the group has released the music video for the track “35 Summer.”
