The Mike Patton-led avant-garde metal outfit Fantômas, which also features The Melvins’ Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle, recently announced that they will release a new live album and DVD set entitled The Director’s Cut Live: A New Year’s Revolution in early September.

The content for the DVD/CD comes from a Decemer 31, 2008 performance at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall and featured performances of two previously unreleased tracks: covers of Al Green’s “Simply Beautiful” and Marc Bolan & T Rex’s “Chariot Choogle.”

Patton’s Ipecac Recordings will release the set on September 6 along with a standalone audio download.

The eponymous album, originally release in July 2001, features covers of haunting, well-known film compositions such as the themes from The Godfather, Cape Fear and The Omen.
