Rainbows. Butterflies. Kittens. Sparkles. Lindsay Rae Spurlock is the epitome of sugar, spice and everything nice, with just enough sass thrown in to keep you on your toes. Her enormous vocal prowess and quirky piano-driven pop has earned her many comparisons to the likes of Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor, but don’t write her off as just another female singer-songwriter just yet. Sure, she writes songs about boys and love and heartbreak, but she also isn’t afraid to indulge her insolent side and blatantly call those suckers out when they- well, suck. Oh, and she also has quite an amazing song about a swordfish. Make sure to request it at the show.
Her bubblegum pop anthems somehow manage to be saccharine sweet and biting at the same time, and that’s exactly makes her so likable- you wanna be her best friend but you’re also kind of scared to ever cross her. (Unless you want a song written about you titled Asshole -another one to request at the show).
She’s playing with a stellar line up of other artists TONIGHT at Hotel Cafe, and she’s playing at 7 pm sharp. So for those of you who don’t understand going to a show any earlier than 9pm- DO IT. She’s amazing, and you’ll fall in love, guaranteed.
