Deftones singer Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez have begun releasing short videos of music which they have collaborated together for their side-project, Crosses. Utilizing YouTube and Twitvid, the pair along with Moreno’s friend Scott Chuck have uploaded and posted 19 videos thus far.
Gone the way of Prince as a symbol, the side-project Crosses, emblemized with three touching crosses, plans to use the internet as their vessel for their music. Rather than recording LPs in the studio and touring, Moreno and Lopez want to keep the project organic and closer to home.
In an interview back in March with Noisecreep, Moreno stated that Crosses had 16 tracks that were almost done. However, the project and it’s goals are still tentative months later.
But this comes as no surprise considering the Deftones touring schedule since last year’s, Diamond Eyes, released. Instead the trio will produce and release music on their own time and schedule with no expectations, and for their sake hopefully little hype.
The main thing about it is, I don’t want to hype it up and give people all these expectations…We just want to make music because we like to do it, just doing it ourselves and utilizing the Internet, Moreno told Noisecreep
Lopez recently uploaded this video of Moreno playing piano, the videos that follow are from past months.
