The Dropkick Murphys will perform two back-to-back shows at Boston’s Fenway Park, pending city approval. The shows, September 8 and 9, will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund, which helps support families of 9/11 victims throughout the state.
The band’s charity The Claddagh Fund will also benefit through the concert proceeds. Special guests will be The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Additional opening acts are to be announced.
Ken Casey released the following statement:
“We feel honored and privileged to share a connection and friendship with the Boston Red Sox. Our involvement in the 2004 and 2007 championship seasons are some of the greatest highlights of our career and our lives. But to be invited by the Sox to join the select few who have performed full concerts at the park is truly a dream come true!”
The show will mark the band’s first complete show at Fenway. Tickets will go on sale here on July 7. The tour supports their latest LP, Going Out In Style.
