Releasing on DVD in just over a month, the Spike Jonze adaptation of Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs is available on MUBI.com today in full stream. The 30 minute short film premiered at the South by Southwest Music and Film festival back in March.
The short film, titled Scenes From the Suburbs, is available to view now on MUBI.com.
The DVD release of the film will also package a deluxe reissue of Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs featuring previously unreleased tracks, “Culture War,” and a collaboration of, “Speaking in Tongues,” with David Byrne.
Written by Jonze along with Win and Will Butler from Arcade Fire, the film follows the past memories of the narrator living in a dystopian suburb torn asunder by a mysterious military incursion. This companion work to the album highlights fragments from the narrator’s teenage years as he seeks to piece together the times and experiences that drove his neighborhood and childhood friendships apart.
