Japan’s Shonen Knife to Release Ramones Tribute Album

In celebrating 30 years of releasing albums, Japanese rock band Shonen Knife is playing tribute to one of their greatest inspirations, the Ramones.

They will be releasing a tribute album called Osaka Ramones, also the name of a side project that has been a part of the band’s performing history for decades. Co-produced by the Goo Goo dolls’ Robby Takac, the album will release on July 19 and be supported by a North American tour. Dates to follow.

Naoko of the band released the following statement:

“Ramones were my all-time idols since I first heard their music from a radio and rushed to a record shop. This year is the 30th anniversary of Shonen Knife. For celebration, we decided to record a cover album of our favorite band the Ramones. The title is ‘Osaka Ramones’ with our respect. I’m very happy to release an Osaka Ramones project and to recognize their contribution to the evolution of Shonen Knife.”

Michelle Rick: I like Pop Rocks, and believe your life is incomplete if you've never seen Forrest Gump. I recently saw the Counting Crows live, for free, and it was not good. I was supposed to interview David Hasselhoff once but he never showed. And I love the band that was once Oasis.
