River Road entertainment, the production company responsible for acclaimed Tree of Life, is preparing to bring Brian Wilson’s life to the big screen.
After the former beach boy released his autobiography, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, his life story has begun the process of becoming a motion picture.
River Road Entertainment states that the film will “take an unconventional look at Wilson’s unique musical process as well as his struggles with mental illness, and how he managed to persevere as an artist with the love and support of his wife Melinda.”
Focusing on Wilson’s troubled life involving drugs, child abuse, and psychological disorders, this film is set to be less of a biopic and more of a story of how some of the rock’s happiest tunes came from such a conflicted artist.
The film is being written by screenwriter/director Oren Moverman, known for I’m Not There and The Messenger, who is also said to be working on the Kurt Cobain biopic.
