The Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed in recent interview with Rolling Stone that the band is planning to follow up Angles, released earlier this year, with a new album “as soon as possible.”
“If we could do it tomorrow, that’d be great. But yeah, as soon as possible I think, “ Fraiture said in the Rolling Stone interview.
The bassist also added that the upcoming album, their fifth, will be recorded in a similar way as Angles, which was a highly collaborative effort between all members of the band.
“Its been feeling really good. We’re kind of doing the same thing as the last record – we’re bringing in parts and ideas and kind of just working on those and trying to make sense of them, coming from five different people,” Fraiture said.
The turnaround between Angles and this upcoming album is pretty good, given the good five year difference between Angles and 2006’s First Impressions of Earth.
The band seems to be making good on the statement that frontman Julian Casablancas made this past April in an interview with MTV.
“The best thing we can do right now is put out another one really quick,” Casablancas said.
