Longtime frontman to one of metal music’s most hilariously hateful, antagonistic bands, Anal Cunt’s Seth Putnam died Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He was 43.
Known as the GG Allin of Grindcore Seth Putnam was a maestro of hate. Frontman to prominent metal groups such as Executioner and Satan’s Warriors and well known for his frequent collaborations with premiere metal bands – among them Napalm Death, Pantera, Eyehategod and Corrosion of Conformity, all groups that reflected the anti-conformists state of mind that was not only synonymous with his persona but exemplified in Anal Cunt song titles like “Kill Women,” “Eazy E Got AIDS from Freddie Mercury” and Don’t Offer Me Weak Drugs or I’ll Kick Your Fucking Ass.” Putnam’s publicist Grim Kim Kelly posted the news on her Tumblr site yesterday ending it with a final note:
I want to remind everyone that no matter how outrageous and controversial his musical career has been, Seth was still a human being with friends and family that loved him. I’m hoping that the internet will remember that. This is a very sad and trying time for those that knew him, and the last thing they need to see is an outpouring of messageboard hate. The man lived and died by his own rules; if anything, respect him for that.
