British progressive house duo Basement Jaxx have teamed up with Dutch orchestra, Metropole Orkest, to release an innovative new album combining live performances and studio recordings.
Basement Jaxx have always been known for keeping ahead of the electronic curve and their latest doesn’t seem to be anything less. Earlier this year the duo collaborated with the 60-piece orchestra, Metropole Orkest, for a concert in the Netherlands and the result is a take on their back catalog that adds the prodigious effect of an orchestra without losing the compulsive restlessness of their music. The album includes a 20-voice choir as well as an original piece by Basement Jaxx member Felix Buxton and guest appearances from The Bellrays‘ Lisa Kekaula and Sharlene Hector. Below are a few tracks posted on the groups Soundcloud page. The full album is set for release July 11 via the duo’s Atlantic Jaxx imprint.
