In dead media news, seminal indie outfit Dinosaur Jr. recently announced that they will reissue their 1988 album, Bug, on cassette via Joyful Noise Recordings. Set for June 21 release, the cassette will drop on the same day that the band kicks off their short summer tour.
Bug initially saw release in 1988 via the legendary SST Records, the Greg Ginn-founded label that was home to bands such as Sonic Youth, Husker Du and Ginn’s Black Flag. This upcoming release will serve as the first ever reissue of an album from Dinosaur Jr. in its original format—the humble cassette tape.
The Bug cassette reissue will be limited to just 250 hand-numbered copies, half of which sold out via Joyful Noise’s site. The remaining 125 will be available for purchase at stops along the upcoming tour.
If you don’t manage to get your hands on the reissue, no worries—Dinosaur Jr. wil be playing Bug in its entirety at every stop on the tour.
