The Film Once Set To Hit The Stage

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova have teamed up together to write the music and lyrics to the off-Broadway adaption of the Oscar-winning film Once. The production of the critically acclaimed John Carney film will debut at New York Theater Workshop in November and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2006.

John Tiffany will serve as the director, with hopes of the production moving to Broadway early next year. John Hart, a lead producer of the musical spoke to the New York Times of the production stating, “Our first rush of enthusiasm was to go right to Broadway. I don’t think there’s any fixing to do, nothing specific, but we want to take our time and put it before audiences and critics at the New York Theater Workshop to get a clear sense of what we have.”
