Czech singer, songwrtier, musician, and actress Marketa Irglova, announced Monday that she will release a solo album on August 9. After recording with her duo partner from The Swell Season, Glen Hansard, she will be flying back home to perform a small solo tour.
The recently finished record will be Irglova’s first album since The Swell Season’s latest, Strict Joy, which released in late 2009. Though she has not unveiled the title of the record, it will be her first solo album.
“My record is finished and coming out August 9th, worldwide,” said Irglova.
After wrapping up a tour with Iron & Wine on April 29 in Cleveland, OH, Irglova is headed back to New York before her trip home to the Czech Republic. “I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while,” added Irglova.
Despite her excitement for her trip, the Oscar-winning duo will enter the studio Tuesday. Though Irglova did not indicate what the recordings are for, she mentioned she is coming in to sing on some of Hansard’s work.
With only a single planned recording session, Irglvoa’s small tour back home may kick off before the end of the week.
