Emo’s (outside)

$17 Tickets

The last time I had the opportunity to see The Black Lips was during their sold out ACL after-show on the same stage at Emo’s. I walked out of there covered in beer, sweat, other better left un-named things, a bad case of rug burn on my left elbow from trying to brace myself against the stage, and a rib that hurt afterword for days. It was a magical, lovely experience. They’re playing with Vivan Girls this go around, so I’m not really sure what to expect from the crowd, but I do know for a fact that this band is crazy fun live! If you haven’t yet, definitely check out the first single off their new album produced by Mark Ronson called ‘Modern Art,’ it sounds like signature Black Lips with the intensity turned up way past the recommended setting, and the lines of the big sound picture cleaned up just a bit. Plus, the new video is questionable and hilarious. Looking forward to seeing them play again, and hopefully hearing the album in full soon. This show is the best pre-cursor possible to this weekend’s Austin Psych Fest.
