In spite if what their name might make you think they’re like (a comedy metal band perhaps?), Trampled By Turtles is pure bluegrass heaven. The group has two speeds, slow and waltz-y and full force pickin’-and-grinnin’ fury! The traditional instruments guitar, mandolin and fiddle are augmented by acoustic bass. It might be a weird thing to focus on, but acoustic bass has a distinct and fun tone, one not used nearly enough in the last ten years. The hot sun may have kept many fans from entering the festival grounds yet, but Trampled By Turtles will be around in bigger capacities, for sure.
