The Raveonettes w/ Tamaryn & Shapes Have Fangs

Tuesday, April 12th

Emo’s (outside)

$15 Tickets

Danish indie duo The Raveonettes is composed of Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo. They make really cool noise. Live fast, die pretty 50’s and 60’s -ish inpspired rock chords that really make you wish you were cool enough to own a motorcycle drowned in feedback, hard hitting beats, and sugary two part vocal harmonies serenading you about everything beautiful and tragic under the sun and/or a starless city sky. New album The Raven in the Grave takes their signature sound a slide forward with noir 80’s soundscapes. A subdued, and a little extra atmospheric shoegaze side of  The Raveonettes with heavy lyrics, understated eery minimalism, and strange echos of off kilter beats. Worth a listen, maybe with some rain clouds above you and slick streets below for added effect (or at the gym, or the beach, whatever floats your boat, really).

It’s really just incredibly cool to see the elements come together on stage for this band. Electro pickups, reverb, heavy bass, and fuzz. Such a gorgeous recipe for some quality noise. They’ve been playing an equal of new and old on this tour, so it’s great if you’re familiar with the band, and equally as great if you just caught wind of their awesomeness. Should be a happening time! Plus, it’s a Tuesday, what else could you possibly be doing that’s cooler than seeing The Raveonettes? That’s right, nothing!

(note: I know that’s an older picture, but I couldn’t resist, it’s so rock n’ roll)
