Amanda Palmer, Ben Folds, Neil Gaiman, and Damian Kulash are taking on the task of writing eight songs in eight hours. The album is set to benefit the Berklee City Music, which provides free music education to teens.
The marathon task is set to take place on April 25th at the Berklee College of Music. The event is set to run from 4p.m. to midnight. After the songs are written and recorded, the group will be releasing the music ten hours later during Rethink Music in Boston.
The collaboration will be broadcast live on rethink-music.com and the album will be released through Bandcamp.com.
The group intends to show, much like Radiohead recently, did, that record companies are becoming superfluous to building buzz and distributing music.
Amanda Palmer comments, “This project is exciting as it will give us the opportunity to collide our circles. ”
