Damon Albarn, be better known for his part in the Gorillaz, Blur, and the Gorillaz’ masterful music Videos, is creating yet another Opera in London.Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett co-created “Monkey: Journey to the West” in 2007. Now, four years later, Albarn is taking the reins of a new Musical named “Doctor Dee”. This time around Albarn will be doing the majority of the writing and will even play leading character’s role on stage.
The musical will premiere this summer as part of the Manchester International Festival. From there Albarn will take his production to the English National Opera where it will be a part of the London Cultural Olympiad program late this summer.
