Since the release of Midnight Boom in 2008, The Kills have been relatively quiet. Alison Mosshart specifically has spent her time singing along with Jack White in his most recent band The Dead Weather. Singer/guitarist Jamie Hince has been, well, just quiet. Early on in their set near the closing of the SPIN party the group encountered extreme technical diffficulties and even left the stage for about two minutes while stagehands tried to correct a problem with their sequencer (if you haven’t seen The Kills live before, the only “live” instrument are guitars). After recovering from that difficulty though, the performance took a nose dive. The duo leaned heavily on songs from their upcoming album Blood Pressures. That was a poor choice given that nearly no one has heard much more than a track from that record. The new material fell flat. The Kills are capable of so much more than this.
