Foo Fighters Confirm SXSW Performance at MTV Woodie Awards, Possibly Playing Other Shows As Well

The Foo Fighters have been up to a lot lately. From new video premieres to secret shows, these boys have been keeping busy.

First off, the world premiere of the video for the band’s new single, Rope, will take place live this Thursday at 7:54 pm E/T on MTV.

In celebration of this new release, the band is going to invade the home of one of their Los Angeles area fans to introduce the video and answer some questions.

The bigger news is that the Foo Fighters will be playing the Woodies for the first time. This year’s mtvU Woodie Awards show will air live from Austin, Texas on March 16th at midnight on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU.

The Woodies will be hosted by “Community’s” Donald Glover and feature sets by Wiz Khalifa, Sleigh Bells, Odd Future, Wolf Gang, Kill Them All and Two Door Cinema Club. Among the presenters at the show are Matt & Kim, Lupe Fiasco, Dev, Chiddy Bang, Skylar Grey and “My Life as Liz” star Liz Lee. MNDR will serve as the show’s house DJ.

The night before the Woodies, a new Foo Fighters documentary, directed by Academy Award winner James Moll, will premiere as part of to the SXSW Film festival.

In addition to the SXSW and MTV Woodies performances, the Foo Fighters have also been said to be playing secret shows. Rumors have been circulating about the band possibly playing more secret shows, but more concrete information is to come.
